The Badgers have a long history of rugby in the southeastern United States. Founded in 1969 by the “godfather of Deep South Rugby”, Bob Markel, Spring Hill has competed with numerous college/university and mens sides throughout the decades.
Spring Hill’s athletic department made the decision in 2013 to support rugby as a formalized club sport and hiring a full-time head coach to supervise team practices, games and the daily training environment. The Badgers re-joined the Deep South Conference in 2017,  after taking a short leave to compete in the USA Touch Rugby National Championships and as an independent club, to further develop the team’s fifteens and sevens competitions.
